2nd Weihenstephan Forum for Agricultural Policy
Campus, Event |
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. With an annual average temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius, 2023 was the warmest year in Germany since records have been kept. The rise in temperature caused by climate change is associated with an increase in extreme weather events such as droughts, heavy rainfall and storms. These changes have far-reaching consequences for agriculture. In the future, it will have to adapt even more to the expected climatic changes. At the same time, farmers will be forced to continue their efforts to reduce greenhouse gases. For many climate activists, efforts to date have not gone far enough. But are the accusations so generalized? Or do the critics fail to recognize the services that agriculture provides for climate protection with its soil-based biomass production? The speakers will discuss these and other questions on the basis of keynote speeches and with scientific input from Prof. Johannes Sauer.
We cordially invite interested guests. Registration is required.
