Lukas Deuring
SpaceVOCs
Biography
Lukas Deuring has been working at the Hans Eisenmann-Forum as a research associate for the SpaceVOCs project since December 2023. The project deals with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that plants release under stress. The aim of the project is to develop specific sensor systems for these substances further. Stress could then be detected at an early stage, and countermeasures could be taken before the plants are damaged.
Lukas Deuring completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Technical University of Munich. During this time, he acquired extensive knowledge about the cultivation of various plant species in indoor farming systems. Alongside his studies, he first completed an internship and then took up a position as a student assistant at the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture. Here he acquired extensive knowledge in the coordination of projects and the management of teams.
Focus topics
- Optimization of environmental parameters for the cultivation of various plants in vertical farming systems
- Measurements of photosynthesis to determine the optimal biomass growth of plants in indoor systems
- Measurements of VOCs to determine the health status of plants in indoor systems
