Twelve researchers from TUM are among the world's most frequently cited figures. Eight of them conduct research at the TUM School of Life Sciences. This is shown by the new edition of the "Highly Cited Researchers" ranking. The three HEF members Prof. Dr. Ingrid Kögel-Knabner (Soil Science), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Weisser (Terrestrial Ecology) and Prof. Senthold Asseng (Digital Agriculture) are among the world's most frequently cited scientists.
In their publications, scientists refer to the most important studies that have been published on the respective topic to date. Therefore, the citation frequency of a study is a good indicator of research quality. In order to determine the "Highly Cited Researchers", the US company Clarivate evaluates the "Web of Science" database that it operates, which records scientific publications from a wide range of subjects.
