9th HEF PhD Symposium: A platform for young scientists

From willingness to pay for biological crop protection to calf weight development – in the 9th edition of the Hans Eisenmann-Forum PhD Symposium 28 PhD students took advantage of the opportunity to present their projects and receive feedback via poster presentations, talks or elevator pitches. PD Dr. Kristin Knipfer, TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning (TUM IL3) introduced career opportunities in science management and the services offered by TUM IL3. Awards for best contributions went to:
- Best Elevator Pitch: Ariel Tasca „Spatiotemporal phosphorus deficiency and water limitation responses in B73 and root hairless rth3 maize mutants” (Professorship Crop Physiology)
- Best Poster: Sabrina Schleibinger „Proteases inhibition in chicken organ cultures reduces avian influenza virus replication“ (Professorship Reproductive Biotechnology)
- Best Talk: Sabine Wittmann „Indoor Vertical Farming – impact on resource efficiencies” (Chair of Digital Agriculture, HSWT Applied Science Center for Smart Indoor Farming)
Anton Vorndran received the Schaumann Foundation award for his master thesis on the topic "Determination of the Emergence of Non-Eatable Biomass from the Agricultural and Processing Sector in Germany" at the Chair of Animal Nutrition and Metabolism.
