The student council welcomed alumni from both the Bachelor's degree program in Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences and the Master's degree program in Agricultural Systems Science. Academic Programme Director Prof. Hückelhoven, Prof. Hülsbergen (Chair of Organic Agriculture), Emeritus Prof. Heißenhuber, Dr. Pahl and Student Advisor Susanne Papaja-Hülsbergen attended the event as representatives of the university. In addition to the current graduates, the graduates of the last years, whose celebrations could not take place due to the pandemic, were also invited. "I am very pleased that we were able to make it possible for our graduates to officially celebrate their graduation. After all, it's no one's fault that they graduated during the coronavirus pandemic," explains student council spokesperson Pia Jackermeier. A good decision: The guests really appreciated the fact that several year groups were able to come together and network.
Praise, recognition and awards
The afternoon was dominated by inspiring speeches and well-earned awards: Prof. Hückelhoven emphasized the importance of the graduates for the job market: "We see you well prepared for the challenges in the professional field of agricultural and horticultural sciences. Your qualification is unique in its combination of natural sciences, social and economic sciences, understanding of production systems including technical aspects and a solid ecological understanding and sense of responsibility. So who better to bring sustainability to science and practice than you?"
Julia Steinhoff-Wagner, Professor of Animal Nutrition and Metabolism, was particularly honored. The Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences student council awarded her the prize for the best teaching performance. The students quickly turned their " Golden Ear" into a "Golden Cow" - based on her field of research. "I am delighted that the TUM School of Life Sciences' strategy of creating an even more attractive and diverse range of courses in animal sciences is also appreciated by our students," said the award winner. The four best overall degrees were also honored.

The event ended with the student council's Snow Ball, which attracted more guests than ever before this year. Students from the entire Weihenstephan campus - both from TUM and the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences - came to celebrate together. After dinner together, live music ensured an unforgettable atmosphere.
